The Stress of Packing: 8 days until departure

While we still have 8 days until our departure for Portland, our bikes and most of our gear will be leaving Indiana, PA tomorrow with FedEx (BikeFlights.com is great to use and saved us some $$$). Packing for a long weekend or vacation can be quite stressful, but packing for a 3-month cycling journey has taken the better part of the last week. Everything we pack (see previous post on gear) has to be multi-purpose, lightweight, easy to clean, moisture wicking, sun blocking, antimicrobial, able to keep you warm in the cold and keep you cool in the heat, etc. And, it must all fit on our bikes. The good news is, we are almost fully packed and we got our loaded bikes out on the road today for a quick spin before tearing them down and shipping them out. What a relief!
