Day 21: Elkhart, IN to Indiana, PA

Our trip did not turn out as we had originally planned, but we were still able to see many amazing places across the U.S. We travelled 400 miles on our bikes and 3,000 miles in the car, through parts of 11 states, 4 time zones, many national and state forests and two national parks. While this seems like a lot, it made us realize that there are so many more areas we want to explore.

One of the most memorable parts of the trip (and something we didn’t really expect) was how kind and welcoming everyone was, particularly when we were biking. No matter where we went, people wanted to know where we were going, give us recommendations for what to see and do locally and even offer us places to stay. We were also blown away by the bicycle infrastructure in Oregon and how bike-friendly the state is.

While trying to think of our least favorite moments, we couldn’t come up with anything. There were certainly parts that were physically and mentally challenging, but they were all part of the adventure and make for great stories. And now for our next adventure...finding jobs and a new place to call home.

May the wind always be at your back. Pedal on!
